Huge fans of Kristen Caissie of Moon Canyon Florals' spectacular creations, we were so excited to brainstorm with her one morning over a cozy breakfast and collaborate on one of our seasonal and holiday gifts this year.
The result, available to buy now through Christmas, is a truly dreamy and elegant winter wreath, its lush greens punctuated by perfectly patinated brass bells, Japanese linen, and whispery white flowers. Our favorite part? The collaborative spirit that led to this beautiful creation. Kristen is a seriously decisive, dynamic creator - there's nothing more fun than being able to riff off of each other and bring each vision to the table. It makes collaborating exciting and seriously fun. Read on for an interview with Kristen.
Simone LeBlanc Studio: How did you and Simone first meet? Can you tell us about the beginnings of this collaboration?
Kristen Caissie: Simone and I met years ago in a non professional capacity but were later reintroduced when she was looking for help with styling gifts. I had just begun Moon Canyon and was eager to work creatively. I was so impressed by her ability to balance a creative business.
Skip 4 years ahead and Moon Canyon is off the ground... Simone and I are now close friends, business owners and new moms!
The collaboration was something we had been wanting to do for years but couldn't get the logistics down. Finally this year we were able to make it happen!
SL: What was the inspiration behind this wreath?
KC: I am a holiday nut! There is something about this season that gives me life and inspiration. I am a New England girl, so anytime I get to play with the woods, so to speak, I am giddy and reminded of my home. I make wreaths for all seasons. They are one of my most favorite ways to design. I especially love holiday wreaths!
SL: What plants, florals, or foliage do you love especially for the holidays?
KC: Something special about the holidays is all the spring blooms that become available. I adore paperwhites, amaryllis, tulips, hyacinth, even peonies!
I also love that you can lay a branch of cedar or pine on you mantle and your holiday decorating is done!
SL: What gifts do you like to give and receive most?
KC: I like to receive food. Especially homemade food!
