When working on custom projects for clients, we dive into the details from the start. Exploring typeface often goes hand in hand with this initial part of the design process. Which type conveys the mood of the project for the custom labels and packaging? Do we want something classic and if so, are we thinking turn-of-the-century, 1940's or 1970's classic?
The serif typeface is a favorite for us in the studio. It's commonly considered easier to read, and is the most used for body text precisely for this reason. We love how elegant this little line attached at the end of a letter makes each symbol look. We gathered a few of our favorite posters and book covers featuring serif fonts, being especially fond of anything by designer Herb Lubalin (see magazine Fact).
